Unfortunately, many businesses are affected by the economic crisis plaguing our nation today. . However, the everyday customer is still craving for their own comfort food, especially ice cream in alleviating the stresses of life. Unilever's (the current company owner) Ben and Jerry's ice cream products and their over 100 store franchises across the nation continues to be very successful. Additionally, the franchise stores offers their loyal customers "Free Cone Day" every year during the end of April to celebrate their anniversary. Today, the company receives about $1-10 million in revenue and they have over 250 employees throughout the stores and the company itself.

Just recently, the company is facing a controversy over the name change of an ice cream from "Lubby Hubby" to "Hubby Hubby", which a marketing ploy in basically promoting the celebration of Vermont's "Gay marriage equality" bill .

There are about 3 Ben and Jerry's stores located in Manhattan. Unfortunately, one store didn't survive as of today, because of the economic crisis. The Ben and Jerry's store in Times Square, which many tourists and locals alike, once enjoyed their 28 different flavors they offered on the corner of 43rd and 8th ave. This store closed on January 5, 2009 due to high building/maintenance costs, outdated equipment, etc.
