Ben and Jerry's says "Hubby, Hubby" and "Yes, Pecan"

Ben and Jerry's try hard to promote diversity with their customers.

Unfortunately, one of their strageies caused a controversy throughout the company's decision. Recently, Vermont passed a bill to legalize gay marriage within the whole entire state. Same sex couples are now allowed to get married. In doing so, the Ben and Jerry's decided to celebrate this accomplishment by changing their popular ice cream sundae from "Lubby Hubby" to "Chubby Hubby. Walt Freese, CEO of Vermont-based Ben & Jerry’s, states, "At the core of Ben & Jerry’s values, we believe that social justice can and should be something that every human being is entitled to. From the very beginning of our 30 year history, we have supported equal rights for all people. The legalization of marriage for gay and lesbian couples in Vermont is certainly a step in the right direction and something worth celebrating with peace, love and plenty of ice cream.”

Additionally, Ben and Jerry's also try to reach their customers by also announcing a new ice cream name during the 2008 Presidental Election. As a very liberal company, they endorsed Barack Obama during the election. Therefore, during the day of the election, November 4, the company introduced a new ice cream flavor,"Yes Pecan".
