Chapter 5 Writing a Business Message

Chapter 5 Writing a Business Message
When writing a business message. You have to know your audience and your purpose. By knowing your audience, then you have to adapt to their own needs and expectations of your message. If you want to give a well spoken presentation or written message, you must know what you are trying to convey to the audience or reader. Remember, your own point of view is not a fact. An example of my company conveying a business message is a recent presentation for the students from Lawrence Technological University's convocation for new students. This presentation's purpose is to motivate the idea of entrepreneurial spirit and social responsibility from the co founder, Jerry Greenfield. Jerry's presentation consists of how he became successful through his own business philosophy. http://www.pressreleasepoint.com/ben-amp-jerry039s-cofounder-brings-entrepreneurial-message-lawrence-tech

For my presentation, I will be a marketer. My audience is a focus group, who consists of ice cream aficionados. This focus group is required to feedback regarding our new products. In the end, I wish the members of the group will promote Ben and Jerry's through a word of mouth. The main purpose of my presentation is for the audience to try then buy Ben and Jerry's products.

The Persuaders

In the movie, "The Persuaders", emotional branding is an important aspect of advertisement. There is a concept of explaining the differences between products through descriptive and emotional words. The idea of an emotional brand is it can create an emotion and identity to consumers of America. The question to answer with these emotional brands is, "How do they make you feel?"

With Ben and Jerry's, they use emotional brand through their ice cream products by promoting a different combination of flavors to their customers. Ben and Jerry's have a key ideal to connect their products to the customer for an emotional appeal and social responsibility to their customers. For example, on election day ,November 4 2008, Ben and Jerry's gave away free ice cream if you voted and also endorsed Mr. Obama by promoting their ice cream, "WePecan".

Ben and Jerry's Slideshow Notes

Slide 1:

Have you ever craved for delicious ice cream?

Slide 2:

Then your prayers will be answered. Ben & Jerry's has to be my favorite ice cream of all time. But, what makes Ben & Jerry's ice cream so good? Could it be the natural ingredients? Or is it the wide range of flavors that makes Ben & Jerry's so appealing? I believe what makes Ben & Jerry's so great is their devotion to producing a high quality product. Take a cheaper brand of ice cream and compare it to a similar flavor of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. You will immediately notice two things. First of all Ben & Jerry's ice cream is creamier. Second, Ben & Jerry's ice cream is more flavorful.
